About the Water Tank Art Project

Yarra Ranges Council is commissioning several new Water Tank Artworks located on the traditional lands of the Kulin Nations. The tanks will be adorned with artworks by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists and engage with themes of Indigenous culture and Country.

We're seeking a Request for Quotation (RFQ) from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists and/or creative teams for a public art opportunity on water tanks throughout the region.

The goal of the project is to produce site-specific artwork(s) that reflect the significant Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander connection to Country, history and culture of the region.

While a demonstration of experience working in public space is preferred, artists looking to gain this experience are also encouraged to apply.

The successful artist or creative team will be selected by a panel consisting of Indigenous Advisory Committee and Yarra Ranges Council representatives.

The selected artists and creative teams will be required to complete the artwork by a date agreed upon with Council.

Budget

Each water tank has been assigned a budget of $15,000. This budget is expected to cover the costs of artist fees, Rapid Global registration, site preparation, materials and supplies, and working at heights equipment.
