Thank you for your feedback
The Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008 (the Act) recognises the key role of councils in improving the health and wellbeing of people in their municipality. The Act requires every council in Victoria to prepare a Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan every four years. At Yarra Ranges we call ours the Health and Wellbeing Strategy.
Improving the health and wellbeing of our community is everyone’s business. Council's roles includes planning, funding and partnering with service providers and community groups, delivering some health related services, and advocating to other levels of government.
We have developed our next four-year strategy to support a connected and healthy community. To do this, we have analysed local health data, consulted with local service providers and listened to issues raised by the community.
The Strategy highlights four focus areas, six advocacy priorities, and a suite of strategic actions for Council to progress in the next four years:
- Increasing community adaption to climate-related health risks
- Improving mental wellbeing
- Supporting our community to lead healthy lives
- Creating safer and more inclusive communities
The Yarra Ranges Health & Wellbeing Strategy 2025-2029 was endorsed by Council on 14 October, 2025. You can view more details on our website: Health and wellbeing profile Yarra Ranges Council
