Kalorama Park Land Art Construction

13 November 2024

Landscape Architecture impression

'Regeneration – The Listening Place', in Kalorama Park has begun installation.

In an exciting milestone for the ngurrak barring | RidgeWalk project, construction has begun on a significant permanent artwork in the 'Ways of Seeing' Theme, which runs from Montrose, up to Kalorama and into Mt Dandenong.

Key dates:

Start - 11/11/2024

Expected completion - July 2025

The Land Artwork, ‘Regeneration’ works with the site, focusing on the use of natural materials to create a sculpture, designed pathways and revegetation using native species.

Every care has been taken to ensure the construction period has as little impact as possible. The fencing has been installed to sit below sight lines, ensuring an uninterrupted view of Silvan Dam from the lookout area, while protecting the area from wildlife. Three car spaces at the viewing point may be inaccessible during construction.

Main access to the site will be towards the bottom of Kalorama Park via Barber's Road. No local businesses will be impacted by the works.

We appreciate your patience during this period, and we look forward to inviting community members to an official opening of the site, when the artwork and revegetation is complete in 2025.
