Nicole murray says:

I would like the money spent across all townships in the upper yarra valley not just in areas that have higher focus attached

Marion purdie says:

I think it looks really good a it of everything in there

2 May, 2025

Kathy says:

I would love to see some permanent information boards with photos which describe the history of the area, or a story from the past.

N says:

a BBQ in the picnic node Crossing is an important safety feature. fitness equipment would be great

Dru says:

It would be enjoyable to just have an empty green space in the town centre, that could have multiple uses. Maybe some bench seats around.Dru

Julie says:

Improve the current public toilets. They are a filthy disgrace and embarrassment that spoils the total visitor experience. Keep simple.

1 May, 2025

Em says:

Have nothing below the Multi Purpose Space. Amphitheatre at the top & open green space below so it is still user friendly for all Events.

Pete schey says:

Please do nothing, I don't want my rates wasted on these over priced projects that don't benefit our community, they only benefit tourists.

29 April, 2025

Jack says:

Good design. Shelter required, Healesville is rainy. Rotunda or similar with picnic tables. Power outlets for stalls, events. Drink fountain

29 April, 2025

Janda says:

Eliminate the temporary stall holder areas. This will bring to much foot traffic in winter. There is more than enough space on the bitumen.

29 April, 2025

madeline says:

Keep it simple and earthy . We have a ampitheatre at queens park i feel council should be looking at cost effective solutions not this

28 April, 2025

C Edmonds says:

Why do anything ,just leave it open grass. Spend the money fixing the disgusting toilet lock in Green St.

What we heard

  • Top picks

Communal picnic seating received the most votes, with a feature tree closely second. Other priorities were space for market stalls and group seating.

  • Common themes

Responses to our open survey highlighted the preferences for opportunities to sit and enjoy lunch or gather together. "Keeping it green" with trees/ gardens was suggested by many contributors.
Ensuring the market and other community groups can still utilise the area was also important.

  • Other suggestions

As a small-scale open space area, large infrastructure will not be included.
Suggestions for toilets, playgrounds or water play, BBQs and large building structures cannot be included in this project.

How did people get involved?

Residents in Yarra Ranges found out about the engagement and got involved in the following ways...
  • In-person

Our team visited the Healesville Market, speaking to stall holders & visitors, handing out 70 flyers about the project. Staff were available at Healesville Community Link for two days during the engagement period, speaking to a number of residents.
  • Online

We had 433 visitors to the project page, with a total of 91 contributions to the activities.
  • Social media

The project page was promoted via Facebook, Instagram, and the YR Local e-newsletter. We recorded a total of 309 clicks from these channels.

What's next?

Once engagement responses have been reviewed and considered, our team will create a detailed design for Green Street open space. This will then be followed by tendering and construction.
