Council is asking community members for their feedback on designs for a new playspace and an extension to the car park at Monbulk Recreation Reserve.

We’ve come up with concept designs for both the playspace and the car park extension using feedback from the Have Your Say Survey, completed by community members in October 2020.

What you told us

We heard from community members that the Monbulk Recreation Reserve is commonly used for playing, meeting with friends and walking.

You told us:

  • The current play equipment does not cater well for young children and is not “toddler friendly”.
  • Nature play was identified as the style of play most people would like to see at the reserve, followed by traditional play.
  • Slides and swings were identified as the most popular pieces of equipment in the current playspace.
  • To extend the car park improvements to the drop off zone for the primary school.

The proposal for the playspace includes a slide, swing, music play, nature play and seating areas.

We’ve included elements that cater for young children, such as music play, nature play elements and an embankment slide.

We’re inviting you to provide feedback on the playspace design. The community’s feedback will be used to finalise the design and help us confirm whether to include spinning or rocking elements in the final design.

The proposed design includes an additional 9 car parking spaces plus a pick-up / drop-off area and a formal pedestrian crossing. There is also improved access through to the Recreation Reserve and terrace seating.

Once designs for both the playspace and car park have been completed, we’ll program the projects to commence construction. At the moment, we expect this project to be fully complete by 2022.
