A Procurement Policy outlines the principles and requirements that apply to the purchase of goods, services and/or works, by Council.

A Procurement Policy makes sure that when Council acquires goods, services and/or works, it is done in a socially responsible and sustainable way. It also makes sure it is transparent, fair, equitable and timely. Ultimately providing the best value for money outcomes for Council and community.

Council is required to prepare and adopt a Procurement Policy in accordance with the Local Government Act (2020).

The following list outlines the changes from the current policy :

• Public tender thresholds have been simplified and increased;
• Increased quotation thresholds, with a mandatory requirement to seek at least one quotation from a local business wherever possible;
• Collaborative procurement with other Councils to be considered where possible;
• Incorporation of principles to achieve social, economic and environmental outcomes; and
• Detailed listing of exemptions from competitive procurement requirements.

According to the Local Government Act (2020) Council must review its procurement policy at least once during each 4 (four) year term of the Council.

Council is committed to reviewing the Procurement Policy at least once every 12 months.

The Policy incorporates many aspects of socially responsible and sustainable procurement, including engagement of local and Indigenous businesses and other social enterprises, including sustainable and ethical sourcing.
