We attended the monthly market at the Mooroolbark Community Garden today on a brisk sunny morning! Established and run by passionate volunteers, visitors to the garden can buy seedlings, pick their own seasonal produce and get involved in the weeding and tending of the plants.

We chatted to the community about projects open for engagement - including sharing the concept designs for 2 great new local playspace projects at Bimbadeen Reserve and Kilsyth Recreation Reserve.

What we heard from local residents;

  • Mooroolbark has good infrastructure - new train station is great & convenient
  • You love visiting & volunteering these community gardens !!
  • It has many of the shops & services you need - and not to far to travel to others
  • Parking can be really difficult - especially residential areas due to large amount of subdivisions
  • Street trees - concern around monitoring of their growth - roots affecting paths, lighting & power lines.
