It was freezing cold, super windy, but sunny day at Montrose on the weekend as we attended another year of the annual "Girls Day Out' event.

Montrose Football Netball Club proudly present this fundraising event dedicated to supporting and celebrating local women's sports. The event featured inspiring guest speakers, and engaging discussions on the importance of women's participation in sports whilst raising funds and awareness for the Hands Off Foundation

We spoke to around 20 members of the local community and also got to watch some great women's and girls games.

When we posed the question 'what do you love about Montrose' you shared with us;

  • After all the disruption and inconvenience - especially to small businesses some of whom are still trying to recover - everyone is happy with the new traffic lights,
  • You sometimes have challenges with Council teams and receive conflicting advice.
  • You love the country feel at Montrose & feel you are close to everything.
  • You love the recreation reserve, but there could always be some improvements! Young people suggested basketball court, water fountain and more shade at the playground, and a shelter at the new pedestrian crossing.
  • We received comments requesting upgrades to the oval and facilities including for new lights and nets.
