• Kilsyth Festival

The Community Engagement Roadshow attended the Kilsyth Festival 2023 on Sunday 26 November

This family-friendly event takes place each year at the Elizabeth Bridge Reserve. There was lots of delicious food, craft and market stalls and all day entertainment including music, dancing, circus performances and drumming!

This event is delivered by two community groups, the Kilsyth Community Action Group (KCAG) and The Friends of Elizabeth Bridge Reserve.

  • Featured engagements

We encouraged community members to tell us their thoughts about projects currently open for Community Consultation including Council's Housing Strategy and the Aquatics and Leisure Strategy. Coming out to events like this gives us great opportunities to chat about current & recent projects and we always encourage any discussion around what you love about your local area !

  • Connections

We had officers from Community Engagement, Waste Transition, Early Years, Housing Strategy and Recreation teams join us today.

The Waste Transition team were able to answer all questions around the recent changes and introduction of FOGO bin collections including a "What goes where" sorting challenge!

Our Early Years team are always a hugely popular addition to our roadshows with fun activities and information for families around programs & services.

  • What we heard

    • Housing affordability is one of your key concerns you are looking to have addressed in the Housing Strategy.
    • You are disappointed about the closure of the Kilsyth Pool.
    • There are mixed feelings about the FOGO service. Some larger families are finding the changes challenging, whilst lots of you find you are adjusting well!

The bad weather on the day didn't stop the fun! We heard from over 200 people - Kilsyth locals and visitors from far & wide to the bustling Festival.
