• Kalorama Chestnut Festival

The intermittent hail/sunshine did not stop locals and visitors coming to this annual event! Lots of local market stalls, organisations, so much great food & drink and HOT roasted chestnuts !

  • Featured engagements

We encouraged community members to talk to us about how they currently use Lillydale Lake and how things might change into the future. This will inform the Draft Lillydale Lake Masterplan currently in progress. We had maps & information about ngurrak barring| Ridgewalk and shared updates on the progress and art installations. And of course we asked "What do you love about Kalorama"

  • Connections

We had officers from ngurrak barring join the Community Engagement Team.

We heard from around 100 people including hills residents and visitors from lots of places including US & South Africa !

  • What we heard about this area

    • You love the spirit of community, connection to nature, the fauna/flora, the great walks, Olinda pool, trees, landscape & lifestyle
    • You feel the community is more connected after the storms, but still needs ongoing recovery assistance
    • Need more public transport & better shelters, infrastructure to match tourist numbers
    • There is a trades shortage
    • Balance needed between tree changers & long-term residents
    • Storm damaged property - inc Mt Dandenong preschool can be very triggering, especially to children
