We had a great day with the local community at Badger Creek enjoying the centenary celebrations for the Badger Creek Community Hall.

The energy was fantastic and community feel of this area was strong.

Our top take aways include;

  • The local community love the creek, the nature & beauty of the area, its established trees, the community feeling and the history Badger Creek has . Overwhelmingly we heard that it is this community support that keeps you here (over 84 years for one person we spoke to ❤)
  • You'd like a creek side walk - and we were delighted to be told that this is now happening with the formalising of the existing path in Blue Gums Drive.
  • We heard from lots of you that you would like to see more information & history available to visitors - in the form of boards or a reintroduction of an information centre in Healesville.
  • Sometimes its hard to know about things that are on in the area - we were able to direct people to sign up to receive updates from our Creative Communities team
  • You would like to see more progressive programs for the youth in the area - thank you for sharing your feedback on the Youth priority project currently open for consultation!
  • The choices available for learning & education in the area are great, you sometimes feel isolated from hospital or urgent care facilities.
  • You would like to see some more evening get together options available
  • There is a need for school aged whole day school holiday programs to help out young families.
  • You have noticed an increase in homelessness, graffiti & anti social behaviour which is of concern to you.
  • You have embraced FOGO and love the upgrades to Blue Gums Reserve - thank you for sharing your feedback on these projects!!

Thank you for having us Badger Creek!
