Art & Sole Update

22 June 2022

Art & Sole

In 2022, Yarra Ranges Council in collaboration with Inspiro Community Health, will be delivering the Art and Sole Project. The project aims to increase connection to country, connection to the community and encourage walking for good health.

An Indigenous art sculpture, designed by Wurundjeri elder and artist Aunty Kim Wandin and artist Christine Joy will be installed at Poyner Reserve, in Beresford Road, Lilydale West. The sculpture is a replica of the native fauna, the Cumbungi or Bour-deet that grows in the park.

Wayfinding signs will be placed in the surrounding streets to help guide you along the walking trails in the area and encourage you to walk more to improve health and get you to the station, school or to the shops. Signs will include a link to audible cultural and historical information. We would like to thank the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Aboriginal Corporation and Lilydale Historical Society for providing this combined history.

Please contact Inspiro Community Health for more details.

Launch date: 10-12am, Thursday 8th September 2022

The sculpture will be unveiled, and we welcome you to attend Poyner Reserve, 74 Cave Hill Road, Lilydale for the event.

This project is funded by VicHealth, through the Art of Good Health Partnership Grant.
