We have reviewed the current Tree Policy and prepared a revised draft policy to reflect current industry best practice and provide strategic direction for Council.

All Council policies are regularly reviewed to reflect any changes in legislation, regulations and industry best practice.

Minimal administrative changes, such as updating related legislation, have been made.

The amount of operational detail in the draft policy has been streamlined by moving much of it into Council's Tree Management Plan and Tree Risk Assessment Framework. As internal operational documents, they are not included in this engagement.

The most significant proposed change is the alignment of the Decision Review Process (section 7 in the draft policy) with Council's customer complaint process, outlined in the current Customer Complaint Policy. The proposed process will result in more consistent, equitable and timely decisions for residents about trees on Council land.
