As a result of the expression of interest process, and after years of searching for a permanent home, the Upwey Men’s Shed has officially secured the old Anglers Club Building, now proudly renamed the Upwey Men’s Shed Building.
The keys were handed over last week, marking the start of a new chapter for this dedicated group. This milestone is the result of a collaborative effort, with the building generously gifted to Council by the Upwey Anglers, a group that’s been part of the community since 1945.

Council is seeking Expression of Interest (EOI) submissions from interested community groups or organisations to enter into a lease agreement to occupy and manage the former Upwey Anglers club building (locally known as 'Angler’s Hut'), located at 6/6 Mahony Street, Upwey VIC 3156 for a community purpose. The facility is identified on the plan in section 12.
The building, which includes a hall space, kitchen and toilet amenities has been used as a club house for the Upwey & District Anglers Club for over 40 years.
The successful organisation would be offered a three (3) year lease (with one further term of two (2) years) to occupy and manage the premises for the purposes outlined in the EOI document, subject to statutory processes pursuant to the Local Government Act 2020 (if required).
Accordingly, Council is now seeking EOI submissions from interested organisations with operational and financial capability to deliver outstanding community outcomes.
